Room Decor: Tumblr Style

We all have seen the Tumblr and Instagram pictures of adorable bedrooms, but is it really possible to acheive this look without spending thousands?  Yes it is... well with washi tape and spray paint it is!  I am undergoing a complete room re-do and don't have a millionaire's budget.  Some of you might be facing this problem or just need a new feel for a new year.  Most of these DIYs will include washi tape and spray paint so stock up!  I will be showing a room or piece of room decor and then showing you how to recreate it for less.

I think we have all seen the photo walls.  They are really popular and literally are the simplest of things to make.  You don't need a slanted wall like this picture shows, just a plain wall.  All you need are pictures from your phone, Tumblr, We Heart It, Pinterest, any thing that says YOU and sticky tack.
Instructions:
1. Print out your photos on CARDSTOCK or PHOTO PAPER.  If you use regular paper, they will be too thin and rip.
1a. Cut every photo out either with a scissor or paper cutter.  I like using the paper cutter because it is faster than a scissor.
2. Attach a small piece of sticky tack to the back of each and every photo.  This takes awhile, especcially if you want a lot of photos.
3. Begin to arrange your photos on the wall.  I have seen pictures with them in shapes or just random.  It doesn't matter... just do YOU, not a picture.
4. After you are done, step back and admire your hard work.
This DIY is simple, but requires dedication to cut out every single picture.  If you want to add lights like the picture, buy some simple white mini lights after Christmas.  Then, use Command hooks to hang them.  I love using fairy lights or white mini lights, to add a bit of girly vibe and sparkle.

The geometric patterned door.  Oh yes!  When they first came out, I hands down hated them.  I never wanted one, but now... I need one!  But, most people don't just go out and buy one of these doors.  So, let's recreate one with washi tape!
1. Create a design with washi tape, leaving a bit of overhang.
2. Cut the pieces of washi tape to perfectly fit your door
And your done!  I can't wait to do this to my actual door.  I'm thinking chevron with glitter!  You can literally create any pattern or even a letter or number!  If you are going to do this, remember it's not super permanent.  You can switch it up as much as you'd like.  Also, eventually is will peel off because of humidity or they just get dirty.
The last DIY I am going to show is a photo strand.  They are all over Tumblr and Instagram!  I like personalizing them and giving them as gifts to people for their birthday.  You can also do themed strands such as Disney or Puppies.
photostrand
A photo strand is simply a piece of string or twine with pictures on it.  They are so simple and easy!  You can even use leftover pictures from the Photo Wall DIY.  All you need are pictures of various sizes, string or twine, mini clothes pins, and black paper or washi tape.
Instructions:
  1.  Cut all the photos out.  Again they can be from anywhere and be of anything.
  2. Use black paper to mat the pictures or fold washi tape around the edges for 'frames'
  3.  Select and cut a length of string.
  4. You can use thumbtacks or nails to hang your string.  If you don't have those or can't have those, then use Command hooks.  Tie the string to whatever hanging device you are using.
  5.  Clip photos onto the string with the clothespins.
  6.  Stare at your gorgeous work!
I really like creating these DIYs and will keep them handy for the future.  TumblrPinterestWe Heart It, and Instagram came in really handy for these simple DIYs.  The pictures might look like a million bucks, but all it costs is Washi Tape and time.  I really hope you enjoyed these DIYs!
Hearts!
