Airplane Carry-On Essentials

Since I am going on three major trips this summer and one includes flying- I thought it would be nice to come up with an essential list for what to bring in your carry-on bag.  I have quite a few so let's get started...

  • Purse/Backpack/Tote Bag- just something to carry everything in and around busy airports
  • Phone/Tablet/Laptop- got to communicate with the rest of the world
  • Chargers for any electronics
  • Extra Change of Clothes in case your luggage gets lost
  • Book or Magazine for the chance that your phone dies
    • Seventeen and Teen Vogue are good choices
  • Snacks because they cost a fortune on the airplane
    • my faves are Circus Animal Cookies and White Cheddar Cheez-Its
  • Jacket or Hoodie- anything for cooler temperatures
  • Gum for taking off and landings
  • Notebook for any ideas or schoolwork during the school year
  • ID and Money- best to keep important things with you
If you are second guessing yourself about what goes in your carry-on, if its valuable pack it with you and not in your checked bag.  This is a super short list but I'm working on a tips and tricks post that is taking a lot of work.

Basic Makeup for Jr. High

Makeup is one of my biggest passion and I want to share it with more people.  Makeup shouldn't be something we use to cover up imperfections or create a mask, it's an art.  Our imperfections are what make us unique and special and without them we are just a stereotype.   We all need to be comfortable in our own skin, weather it has makeup on it or we decide to go completely all natural.  I started wearing makeup when I turned 13 and I had friends who started wearing mascara in 4th grade, but it's really up to your parents.

6th Grade
At this age, all I would suggest would be lip gloss and mascara with the occasional concealer.  Lip gloss brings a little bit of color to the face and mascara can bring out your gorgeous eyes.  With all the stress of school, we can start to have a few breakouts but that's what concealer is for.  If you need or want a bit more coverage you can opt for a tinted moisturizer or BB cream.
Favorite Products:
Lip Gloss: Sephora Collection Lip Shine Lip Gloss
Mascara: Covergirl So Lashy Mascara (at the moment)
Concealer: I don't have a good favorite to tell because I have such a hard time finding one that works for my fair skin tone.

7th Grade
I started to experiment with eye shadow and eyeliner in addition to mascara, lip gloss, and concealer.  Powder is also a good option if you tend to get a bit oily.
Favorite Products:
Eye shadow: Maybelline Blushed Nudes or Urban Decay Naked Basics 2- one is warm tones whereas the other is cool tones.
Eyeliner: Marc Jacobs Black Creme Eyeliner and Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper but there are plenty of cheaper alternatives
Powder: Rimmel Stay-Matte Translucent Pressed Powder

8th Grade
In 8th Grade, I started wearing foundation as well as a bit of blush.  I feel like this completes a beginning guide for makeup.  Primer and Finishing Spray can be added but aren't necessities for beginners.
Favorite Products:
Foundation: Clinique Foundation + Concealer (its all about your skin tone and concerns)
Blush: Maybelline MasterContour Kit- the blush is a pretty good neutral pink color

I hope this helps all the younger makeup artists out there but really its all up to you and your parents about what makeup you can and cannot wear.

Traveling News for the Summer!

I am so excited to share this news with you!  This summer I'm going on three trips!  Two are with family and one is with my church youth group.  In the middle of May I am going to be going to Colorful Colorado to celebrate my grandparent's wedding anniversary.  Then I have about a month and a half before I'm gone for two weeks straight.  At the beginning of July I'm traveling to Washington State to see Seattle and Whidbey Island.  Once we get home I have about one day to pack up for the youth group service trip to a camp in Colorado.

I am going to be posting pictures, how to's, ootd's, what to do, travel essentials, etc. in the next few months to prepare myself for the trip and help you guys out with traveling because it can be super stressful!
