School Supplies List!

School Supplies List!

Back to School Supplies Haul

When we were younger, teachers always told us exactly what we needed for school, but now as a sophomore in high school I don't have that luxury.  The weeks leading up to school have been filled with YouTube videos of people shopping for school supplies... maybe too many.  Walking down the aisles of Target, Walmart, Office Depot, ect. can be overwhelming with all of the cute things but my list is going to help you this year!

  • The first thing is a backpack.  I've talked about investing in a good quality backpack a little bit but it is so important!  This year at Ross I found a Calvin Klein backpack for $40 that originally was $218!!  It's a simple black leather but it is a classic.  I was unable to find this backpack online but there are many other black leather backpacks out there!  The picture is of the one I got.

  • Planner and Stickers- a planner helps me keep organized all year so I had to pick one up!  Mine is from Mead (Target) and has a cactus on it!  The stickers are from the Target Dollar Section and Creat 365 (Hobby Lobby)
  • Binders- I like having one for each class so I picked up 5 this year.  I found 2 at Target and 3 at Office Depot.
  • Notebooks- I have a total of 8 this year.  One for each class, an extra Geometry one, plus a backup one.
  • Folders- every teacher loves handing papers out so a folder comes in handy.  Mine are from Target, Walmart, and Office Depot.  I personally hate prong folders but I did get one for art class because I'm not using a binder.
  • Sketchbook- if you're in an art class you're going to need one.  I found a simple black one at Target and DIY'd it with a gold sparkly sticker from Hobby Lobby that says "Live to Create"
  • Writing Untinsels- I love mechanical pencils- especcially the Papermate Clear Point ones!  I also picked up some mini highlighters from Yoobi, Papermate Flair pens, and regular pencils from the dollar spot.
  • Math Supplies- calculator, ruler, protractor... the boring things
  • Pencil Pouch- a necessity for any student.  I personally like using makeup bags more because of the cuter patterns
  • Other essentials- hand sanitizer, sticky notes, perfume, notebook paper, scissors, tape, glue, etc.
I hope this list helps you a bunch!  Also, if you like looking at pictures better, I am working on a Polyvore post that has the photos of the items you might need!

What You ACTUALLY Need in High School

I know that school has recently ended for most people but I actually finished my freshman year over a month ago!  Now that I have a year of high school under my belt, I know what is actually needed for surviving high school.  Every school has a supply list but most things you need, aren't written down but passed down from student to student.  So let's get into what you actually need in high school...

  • Ear Buds: I can't say how often I use these!  There have been occasions when a teacher wants us to listen to a video or are able to listen to music and I don't have my ear buds on me!  I know keep a spare pair in my pencil bag at all times.
  • High Lighters: As a high schooler, we take LOTS of notes in various classes.  My notes were always done in pencil, but I couldn't focus.  That was until I started highlighting everything I needed to study.
  • Gum: My fave is some kind of mint or Sour Patch Kids but that's not the point.  Gum can help you remember things for a test if you chew it while studying and completeting the test.
  • Deodarent/Body Spray: You will get sweaty and gross in school but nobody wants to smell you.  Make sure you reapply throughout the day!
  • Snacks: I eat pretty early in the morning (6:15 am!) and don't eat lunch until noon.  This makes me hungry and so I keep emergency food on hand.  It also helps make new friends.
  • Good Quality Bag: If you get a cheap backpack, it will hurt your back and shoulders.  A good investment now will save you the pain later!
  • Portable Charger: My phone dies quite often and so a portable charger saves lives!
I think that's all for now!

Summer Inspiration

I can't believe I'm saying this but I have FOUR days of school left!  I have quite a few of projects due so I probably should be doing that but... come on it's a weekend.  In honor of summer break coming soon I decided to come up with a bunch of things to do in the summer, life hacks, recipes, and bucket list ideas.  And bonus... their all affordable!!

Sunburn Cubes
For this project, you will need aloe vera gel and a silicone ice cube tray.  Squeeze the gel into the tray until full and freeze.  For anybody with a sunburn, they will love these!

Water Balloon Ice
Whenever you throw parties, you always want cold drinks.  To make this DIY, fill water balloons like normal but freeze them until solid.  Instead of using an ice chest with ice cubes, throw some drinks and frozen water balloons into a cute container and you have an adorable drink holder.

Make Lemonade
Lemonade is a staple in summer, especcially with a mason jar cup.  But, I can't be the only one who gets bored of the lemon flavor.  Now, you can go and buy different kinds but it's so much funner to make your own.  I would love to post a recipe of each and every flavor, but everybody likes different things.  You can google "DIY _____ Lemonade" and you will get millions of recipes.

Movie Night
Bring the movie theater to the comfort of your room.  This is great for you alone or take it a step farther and invite the squad.  Pop some popcorn and bring the junk food!  If you want some good TV shows or Movies... check these out!

  • Pretty Little Liars
  • 13 Reasons Why
  • Before I Fall
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • My Sister's Keeper
Keep in mind most of these are teen girl movies because that's what I know best.  If you don't like those movies, there are bunches more.

Glamping
Everybody used to go camping but now that's not "cool".  As a kid, I loved camping but now am a girly teen. Instead of hiking to the middle of nowhere and sleeping in the cold, go glamping!  This is really fun to do with your best friends.  Set up a tent in your backyard, add sleeping bags or blankets, and add some fairy lights.  Everybody will have fun and be able to take some Insta-worthy pics.

Try a New Style
Summer is the time when nobody you know sees you, except if you live in a microscopic town like I do.  Take advantage of this, try a crazy hairstyle or a glam makeup look.  I personally love expressing my personal style but never have time to do it during the school year.

Make a Smoothie
These are so simple but taste amazing and are great for you!  Blend your favorite juice with fruit- pineapple, strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, raspberries, whatever.  If you freeze your fruit or buy frozen fruit you don't have to add ice!!

Grow a Pineapple
Okay, I technically haven't done this but have seen it all over the internet.  So if you try this... comment down below if it actually works.  Basically, you cut off the top of a pineapple and plant it in the ground and it should grow into a new pineapple's top.  Seems like it would work, but then again I don't know plants.

Dance Party
Find your favorite jams and blast them!  Have a bunch of people over and just jam out to the music.  Spotify has tons of choices and is a free app!!

Road Trip
This is one that could get expensive depending on where you go or how long you stay but can be short and sweet.  If you can legally drive, grab a friend and a map and just drive somewhere.  You can have a picnic, fly kites, go to a theme park, you do you.  I've always had this crazy idea to go to Disney World with my squad during our Senior year so... that's always an option.

Decorate
This can be as simple as decorate a phone case or your whole room.  I seem to decorate on my dresser and bookshelf quite a bit.  I have posted quite a few DIY ideas and YouTube has a lot too.

I hope that you love this ideas as much as I do!  I will definitely be posting more summer things to do because I have a whole summer ahead!

Traveling and Packing Tips

School is almost over which means summer trips for some families and friend groups.  As I have said before, I'm going on quite a few trips and have been traveling my whole life so I have lots of tricks up my sleeve.

Airplane Tickets
Buy airline tickets on Tuesday, if you are planning at least three weeks ahead.  The will be the cheapest as plane tickets get.  For anyone traveling on a budget or in a large group, Tuesday will be the best day.

Make a List
This can include what you're bringing, what day you'll wear it, a intineray of the trip, what not to forget, ect.  Lists help me so much because I overpack!  When I write everything out, I see what I'm bringing and don't get as carried away.

Extra Important Papers
Print off an extra copy of hotel reservations, plane tickets, anything else important.  Even if you have these on your phone... what if you lose your phone or the battery dies.

Roll Clothes
You can save a lot of space by not folding clothes.  Rolling not only creates more space for more clothes but they won't be as wrinkled.

Dryer Sheets
Place a dryer sheet in your suitcase to keep your clothes fresh smelling.

Undergarments in Shoes
Roll socks and other small clothing items and place them in the toe of the shoes.  This saves so much space!

Binder Clips
Clip a binder clip around the razor head to protect your clothes and the blade.

Cling Wrap
Wrap a small piece of cling wrap around the top of liquid bottles like shampoo and conditioner.  Then screw the top on and place in a ziploc bag.

Straws and Jewelry
Instead of having your jewelry tangled in your bag, string it through a straw.  This only works for smaller necklaces though, not statement jewelry.

Bobby Pin Holder
Use an old Tic Tac container to store bobby pins in.

Liquid Rule
Before you get to the airport, make sure all liquids are in one ziploc bag and that they are under 3.4 oz.

Travel Sized Products
Do not buy them!  Most are a ripoff, especcially makeup.  You can buy the fullsized and refill most products like setting powder.  If you must buy them, try to do the math before you purchase them to see what you're paying.

Plastic Water Bottle
Pack a plastic water bottle in your carry on, then fill it up after security.  This way you can have water for free... because it's not free in the airport.

I hope these help you on your next trip!

Makeup Haul!!

Over the past few months, I have gotten quite a bit of makeup and wanted to share it with you.  Let's go!

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer- works for combination skin tones without getting to oily!!  Yay!
Neutrogena Night Calming Makeup Remover Wipes- soft and calming scent
Sonia Kashuk Chic Luminosity Bronzer in Goddess- this is a little to bronzy for countouring but looks great when you apply in LIGHTLY on super fair skin
Maybelline Lash Sensational Brownish Black Mascara Waterproof- haven't had enough time to do a honest review
Sephora 10HR Wear Perfection Foundation in 05- LOVE THIS FOUNDATION!!! That's all I have to say...
Real Techniques Beauty Sponge- great dupe for the Beauty Blender
Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Palette- the shades are fabulous but can have a bit of fallout if your brushes aren't clean
Maybelline MasterConceal by FaceStudio in 10 Fair- To be honest, it was not my shade but the lightest one they had.  It is very thick and full coverage.
Maybelline FitMe Concealer in 10 Fair- WAY TOO ORANGE!!!  They were supposed to be the same color, just different formulas.  They are not the same color, I look like a tried to self-tan when I wear this.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Venom- my friend got two of these (sample-sized) and gave one to me.  This color is super pretty and is similar to the Sephora Crush lipstick.
Maybelline Brow Drama Crown Pommade in Blonde- well it's not really a light blonde like my hair but I actually like the appearance of darker brows with light hair.
Covergirl BB Cream in Fair/Light- haven't used it enough yet

I know this is a lot but honestly I've been collecting these products since about December of 2016 but never bought enough at once for a whole haul.  I hope you know I'm not trying to brag but just showing you what I'm trying out and buying.  If you want a more detailed review or look using a product(s), just comment the name down below.

"No Makeup" Makeup Tutorial

Let's face it... we all don't have time or the will to apply a full face of makeup everyday and ever since Marc Jacobs's models walked down the runway with no makeup on, you've seen many tutorials on the 'no makeup' makeup look.  Honestly though, many of them still involve a full face of makeup, just lighter.  Today, I am going to show you a super simple makeup look that looks amazing and takes less than 5 minutes!

Products Used:

  1. CoverGirl BB Cream (Tinted Moisturizer + Sunscreen)
    1. Rimmel London Translucent Pressed Powder (if you have oily spots, you will need a brush)
  2. e.l.f Spoolie (Brow Pencil if you have literally no brows)
  3. Maybelline MasterContour Blush
  4. Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Black/Brown Mascara
  5. Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Palette (optional)
Tutorial
  1. Beginning with a clean face, smooth BB cream over your face gently with your 4th finger.  Make sure that you blend through your ears and down your neck.
  2. If you need to set your face, use your powder and brush to kill the shine on your forehead, chin, nose, etc.
  3. Brush your eye brows upwards and if you need to fill them in LIGHTLY
    1. Do not over draw them, make them look natural
  4. Brush a thin layer of blush over your cheeks, you want to go for a natural blushing look
  5. If you want, swipe Stark from the Basics 2 palette all over your eyelid and halfway up to the brow bone
  6. Coat your lash in mascara, I used a black/brown waterproof one so it would look natural.  If you want a bit of awakeness (don't thing that's a real word...), you can curl your lashes using a eyelash curler.
  7. Go enjoy your natural makeup and you'll probably get some compliments from people saying how good you look without makeup!
