DIY Sport Gallery Frame Art

I know a lot of people play some type of sport- football, basketball, track, dance and love to show their pride.  I saw a piece of wall art on Pottery Barn Teen which was adorable!  But, then I found out it was $99 and only came in the "tennis" form.  So, I decided to recreate it so you can make one to show off YOUR sports pride!  This was what I saw online...

Materials:
  • 20" by 16" frame (any rectangular frame would work)
  • Sticker Letters (big and small, same color)
  • Paint Pen
  • 2 8" by 11" sheets of solid colored paper or 1 sheet of poster board
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Pencil
Instructions:
First, remove the back of your frame and lay aside.  Next, carefully take the glass out of the frame and set it someplace safe.  Next, lay your two sheets of paper over the back of the frame.  Skip this step if you are using poster board... you just made life easier!  Tape the two pieces together on the backside of the paper so it doesn't show.  Now, trace along the paper to make it the same size of the back piece of the frame.  Next, cut the excess paper off.  Make sure you cut exactly on the lines.  If you cut in too far into the paper, it will be too small and if you don't cut enough, it won't fit in your frame.
Now, move the frame to a safe place and focus on the paper.  Lightly sketch out two straight lines for the letters.  Make sure they are straight so your lettering is not crooked.  On the first line with your smaller letters stick on "it's a good day for".  On the second line "_____", fill in with your sport- cheer, volleyball, weights, etc.  Keep the letters centered by starting from the middle letter and working outwards.
After this is done, you can stop or you can add the border around it.  With a pencil, sketch out a border.  The Pottery Barn Teen frame has straight lines with three tiny lines coming off each corner.  But, feel free to do whatever you'd like.  You can make it simple and just do straight lines or you can do a gorgeous elaborate border that shows off your skills.  Now, trace the pencil lines with your paint pen and allow to dry.  Make sure this is for a good amount of time due to the fact that paint pens take FOREVER to completely dry.  After this is all done, reassemble the frame and you are good to go.  You can put this on a wall, shelf, desk, dresser, etc.  It will instantly show people that you love the sport you do and are proud to play or perform it.
I think this is a really cute DIY that anybody who does some type of sport.  Guys or girls could do this and just change the color of the paper/poster board.  If you don't do sports, just put in a word such as coffee or music, something you enjoy doing.  Many people don't do crafts because they are too hard for them but this one is super simple and show's off your pride.  You can display this with some memories such as trophies, medals, coffee cup, or a favorite item that is similar to the frame.  I really hope you enjoyed this DIY and try it out!
