Glitter Mason Jar

As you can tell by past posts, I love mason jars!  They are so cute and versatile!  Today, I'm going to be teaching you a really cute and simple way of re-purposing your old mason jars.  The glitter mason jar can be used for just about anything!  You can use it as a vase, pencil jar, makeup storage, etc.  I found this project super fun and easy!  You can find the original tutorial here.
You will need a mason jar, spray paint, glitter (lots), masking tape, ModgePodge, and a foam brush.  Also, it is helpful if you have spray painted before so it doesn't run together.  The first step is to spray paint your mason jar, but not the lid and ring.  Then, allow to dry for 12-24 hours to make sure the spray paint is dry.  If you use a primer, make sure to let that dry according to the brand and then paint the jar.  A helpful tip is to tip the jar onto the top after about 12 hours.  This will help the bottom dry and not stick to the cover as bad.
After the mason jar is dry, mark off a section with masking tape about 2/3 from the top.  Make it about two thicknesses of tape wide.  (If that makes sense...)  You are going to want to either pour your glitter into a bowl or shake it over the jar.  If you are going with a bowl, pour it in now.  Next, with your foam brush, apply a layer of ModgePodge to the jar below the tape.  Before the glue dries, either roll the gluey area in glitter or shake it on top.  Make sure all the sides are covered and then shake off excess glitter.  Allow to dry.  Remove masking tape carefully so no glitter comes off.  Ta-Da!
I really liked trying this idea out because it is all over Pinterest and it looks super cute!  I also thought of a few ways to use it.  You can use it to store pencils, pens, makeup brushes, eyeliner, mascara, etc.  You can also fill it with rocks or fish gravel and stick things like marshmallow pops in it for a party.  Anyway you use it, the jar looks amazing and looks like it came from an expensive store!  I really hope you try this out because it is adorable and looks amazing!  #tumblrworthy!
